An Amazon Alternative
In the world of streaming boxes, Amazon is the most recognizable brand name out there. The Firestick and Fire TV have become extremely popular due to their easy setup and intuitive user experience.
As good as Amazon’s devices are, though, there are other options out there that can offer just and much quality (or more) for a lower price if you are willing to look.
Let’s put it this way: we all know that a lot of people are willing to pay more for an iPhone just because it’s an iPhone, but if you just want a phone that works how it’s supposed to, you can easily pay less and be just as happy. That’s how it is with streaming TV boxes too.
If you want to go that route, there are tons of Android boxes out there, but be wary of cheap off-brand products.

An Affordable No Frills Streaming Box
The Android H96 Pro Plus is a fast internet TV box that offers a ton of streaming power for less money than you would expect. This unit allows you to run Netflix, HBO, etc plus all the popular third-party media platforms such as Kodi and Gears TV with ease.
It’s Octa-Core processor provides great speed, allowing you to stream practically anything you want in 4k HD without hiccups. We do recommend you hook it up via ethernet instead of WiFi for best results. The H96 Pro Plus is noticeably faster that the Firestick and Fire TV pretty much all around.
It comes with all the standard Google Play apps out of the box, and is easy to set up and start using immediately. For it’s operating system, it uses the stream-lined Android OS, so navigating this box should be a breeze.If you are used to using an Fire TV, you shouldn’t have too much trouble switching over to this new system.
Another positive: it’s 16 GB of storage gives you much more space than comparable devices.
In short, this box just straight up performs better than any other competitor in it’s price range in terms of raw specs.
Connectivity
The fact that it has built in Ethernet connectivity gives it a big boost over the Firestick and Fire TV, which do not.
We also liked the fact that this box features extra USB ports, increasing it’s functionality. There’s even a micro SD card slot, which can increase it’s memory, which is great.
The H96 Pro Plus is Dolby Atmos compatible.
There is no option for voice control like Alexa or Google Assistant, but if you’re like us, that won’t really be a major factor.
Also included is a basic universal remote, which is pretty cheap, but works fine.
