Can You Watch Live TV On Fire Stick?
While there seem to be endless options for streaming your favorite movies and TV shows, finding the best reliable apps for watching Live TV on Firestick is harder to come across. In this article, we round out the best ways to watch Live TV on your Firestick and Fire TV.
Good Free Live Streaming Apps Are Becoming Harder And Harder To Find
There are a few essential reasons cited for the sharp decline in free Live TV streaming apps for Fire Stick and Fire TV.
- Most people providing these community services are amateurs and hobbyists. While they may have some expertise in Live TV streaming, they rarely have the resources and bandwidth to provide 100% reliable streams 100% of the time.
- They become victims of their own success. Almost as soon as something is labeled “The Best Way to Stream Live TV on Firestick” you can almost guarantee that lawyers for the networks and cable companies are inking up cease and desist letters for these amateur operators.
- Live streaming over the internet is hard. Although connection speeds are faster than they once were, there is a certain amount of testing and fine-tuning involved on the provider’s end to be sure that every one that is connected to your stream can view a half-decent quality video without buffering. Even some of the biggest streaming companies in the world haven’t perfected delivering video without buffering (I’m looking at you, Netflix.)
So, which Live TV apps and addons for Fire Stick and Fire TV still work as of January 2020?
See below for our top picks for Live TV streaming on Fire Stick, as well as links to our step-by-step guides for installing them. While we do have our favorites on the list, we recommend installing multiple Live TV apps in case any are to go down.
Best Live TV Streaming IPTV On Fire Stick And Fire TV
What is IPTV?
IPTV stands for “Internet Protocol Television,” and it refers to a TV that streamed via an internet server.
Instead of tuning into broadcasts coming from a tower or through a cable (like traditional providers), you can purchase a subscription to one of these services and start streaming to your internet TV device.
These services have helped tons of people all over the world cut the cable cord and save money. If you follow our guide, you can stream anything you can think of for less than $20 a month per device (maybe even less than $10!). Kiss your cable company goodbye forever!

Can I Get IPTV On My Fire TV or Fire Stick?
As long as you have an Amazon Fire Stick or other Fire TV device and a high-speed internet connection (20mbps or more recommended), you can stream live tv channels on your Amazon Fire TV.
What is the Best Device for IPTV?
While most Android-based boxes can install these applications, for ease of use and hardware reliability, we recommend the following devices:
- Fire TV Cube (Fastest)
- Fire Stick 4K (Best of convenience, power, and pricing)
- Fire Stick (Good budget option)
That said, the best IPTV apks out there can run on most up-to-date boxes.
Pros and Cons of IPTV services vs. Cable
- Cost is lower than cable
- No contracts or long term commitments
- Most offer all-season streaming sports packages at no extra cost
- Free Pay Per Views
- Usually more channels than cable (although this can depend)
- In most cases not officially supported by Amazon Alexa
- Often no DVR functionality
- Third-Party Apps need sideloading to Fire TV (don’t worry, we’ll show you how)
Is IPTV Legal?
We get this question pretty frequently. Some people think that since IPTV services are so much cheaper than traditional cable, there might be something “shady” about them. Luckily this is not the case. IPTV services are perfectly legal to use.
That said, there is usually no way for the end-user to know if the content streaming on these services are licensed from their source. So, in order to fully protect your privacy while using an Amazon Fire Stick IPTV service, you will undoubtedly want to use a VPN service.

StreamTime TV is one of the most respected services in the IPTV world and for a good reason. They offer 500 channels for as little as $15 a month per device, and we have had excellent luck with the quality of the streams provided here.
This service provides a ton of options for everyone. For sports fans, it includes the most popular sports packages (NFL Sunday Ticket, League Pass, Premier League), and a dedicated PPV section.
It has a premium movie section. No matter where you are in the world, you can be sure StreamTime TV will have the content you are looking for in its wide selection of international content.
One of the best things about this IPTV service is that it uses a distributed network of servers to route the traffic. That means you will always be using the fastest server on the net to stream. We rarely encountered any buffering, non-functioning channels, or broken streams.
Another significant aspect of this company is customer service. These guys are pretty on the ball and answer questions/concerns quickly, which is a rarity in this industry.
Their Amazon Fire TV IPTV APK was super simple to download and install. We got ours going in under 5 mins!
The only real drawback is that it costs $15 per device you use it on, so to connect your whole house may be a bit pricier.
Overall, StreamTimeTV is a fantastic, professional service that provides what they claim to great IPTV on Amazon Fire TV Stick.
A1-TV is a great mid-range IPTV with an intuitive interface and tons of local channels that could reliably replace your cable subscription with no contracts or long term commitments.
The streaming service also comes with a more than adequate library of TV and Movies in their video on demand section.
Free premium channels, free streaming PPV events, along with season passes to all of your favorite sports leagues make A1TV one of our top IPTV services of 2020.
A1-TV offers a 48-hour trial period for $10.
A1-TV provides 300+ international network and cable channels with excellent HD quality streaming and minimal lag time. It does not lack much. We have found that A1-TV has about the best quality streams of IPTV service we’ve tried.
What’s more, they have sections for all the major US and European sports networks.
If you are looking for NBA/NFL/Premiere/etc., you should be able to find multiple streams of whatever you are trying to find. There’s also a great PPV section for UFC/Wrestling/Boxing that we have used even for huge fights without any issues.
A1-TV has an intuitive interface and comes equipped with a well-programmed electronic program guide that will help you find your favorite shows and live tv channels on your Fire Stick and Fire TV Device.
The service carries a higher than the average number of local TV channels, which may eliminate the need for an HDTV antenna depending on where you live.
A1-TV also offer a ton of different pricing plans for monthly, bi-annual, and annual contracts for between 1 and 4 connected devices, so you can find the arrangement that fits your budget and needs.
A1-TV can be a bit tricky to install but usually doesn’t cause too much of a problem for most people.
The seller of this service (imarketzone.com) is very hands-on, and customer support for this IPTV is friendly and helpful.
Area 51 is a solid choice for streaming IPTV on a budget.
There’s a lot of buzz around it, and some people are saying is the best way to watch live TV on Firestick and Fire TV.
Many people are interested in this streaming service because of the exceptionally low price of $6 a month, which gives you access to hundreds of streaming channels from all over the world.
Area 51 is an app for Fire Stick, Fire TV, and other Android devices that lets you stream hundreds of cable channels from around the world for only $5 a month. It basically acts as a full replacement for live cable.
It also provides dedicated sections for NFL, NCAA, NBA, NHL, as well as PPV and XXX.
There are literally thousands of channels from all over the world to choose from, so no matter what part of the world you are from you should be able to find what you are looking for.
In our experience, this app works significantly better than the free Kodi addons out there. The streams tend to be more reliable and higher quality than the ones you don’t pay for, so if you are looking for a cheap cable replacement, Area 51 is a solid choice.
However, we have had a couple of problems with this service.
Number one, they are often out of stock. If you go to their site, you might see an error message when you try to order.
Area 51 limits the number of customers that use it so that their servers don’t get overloaded. They want to make sure that all the streams are fast and reliable.
This makes sense and is great for the people who already have an account. However, this is obviously not helpful if you can’t even get the program in the first place.
Supposedly there will be more stock in the future, but in the meantime, you may want to consider another option for your Amazon fire tv or stick
Note: GEARS TV HAS BEEN SHUT DOWN!
We strongly recommend StreamTime TV as a Replacement
ORDER HERE: BEST REPLACEMENT FOR GEARS TV
Gears TV has quickly become our go-to streaming app for IPTV and sports. We absolutely love it. In fact, we would even say that if you have a Firestick or Fire TV, it’s a necessity.
The simple answer is that it provides high-quality streams of almost any channel out there for almost nothing. $15 a month gets you an insane number of streaming channels, plus sports and PPV, in one super easy-to-use program.
We have tested many other popular free and paid services, and so far nothing has come close to what you get with this app for the price. Let’s check out the main reasons that Gears TV is a must-have for anyone with a Firestick and Fire TV.
If you are a Firestick or Fire TV user, you might be wondering how to completely cut the cord with your cable provider. And really, who can blame you? Cable subscriptions make less and less sense every year. Rising costs, poor customer service, hidden fees, the list of negatives goes on.
Before I finally ditched my subscription, I was paying almost $70 a month! I thought there was no way around it, that the cable companies had me “by the balls”. I was wrong though. When I finally made the leap to streaming 100% of my TV, I started saving hundreds of dollars every year, without losing any of my favorite channels. In fact, now I have access to MORE channels!
If this sounds like a good idea to you (and why wouldn’t it?), the easiest and cheapest way to cut the cord is definitely Gears TV. You will be able to stream almost 400 channels effortlessly. This includes all the major American network and cable channels, plus many others from around the world, particularly UK/Europe and Central America.
With Gears TV there’s no contract to sign, and no hidden fees. It’s $15 a month, and you are good to go! Keep in mind you will definitely want to get a VPN service (like IPVanish) to use for privacy and security while using Gears TV. These services only cost a few dollars a month though, so you will still only be paying about $20 to kiss cable goodbye forever.
Best App For Sports
Gears TV is a dream come true for sports fans. You will never have to worry about missing an event because you haven’t signed up for an expensive season pass, or the game is out of your market. Gears TV has dedicated sections for all of the major leagues, including NFL Sunday Ticket, NBA League Pass, NHL Center Ice, MLB Extra Innings, Premier League, Champions League, as well as all the PPV events for UFC, wrestling, and boxing. That’s a lot! And you don’t have to pay extra for any of it, it’s all included in the $15 a month subscription.
If you are an avid year-round sports fan, you could potentially pay hundreds of dollars to access all the games you want to. Gears TV offers all that for a fraction of the price.
The streams are high-quality, reliable, and stable. There are rarely any issues with glitching or freezing up, which can be a major bummer for live events. Gears TV performs way better overall than the free alternatives in our experience.
Check out this video for a demo of how Gears TV works for sports:
Better Than Free Addons
If you’ve been a fan of streaming for a while you are probably familiar with all the free Kodi addons out there, or Android programs such as Mobdro. We have used tons of them throughout the years (check out our list of Kodi addons for Firestick here). These addons can be good for some things but are not nearly as reliable as a paid subscription like Gears TV. Even the best Kodi addons have their downsides.
Free addons are very hit-or-miss as far as what they offer. Sometimes the streams are down, or will cut out randomly. Especially with live sports, you may find it difficult to locate a good source for what you want to watch. The video quality can sometimes be shaky, especially with HD streams.
Another big issue is that many of these addons are operating in a legal grey area. That means that these providers can get shut down overnight. This has happened countless times to us. An addon that we have used for years will suddenly go offline, and we have to find a new source. Sometimes searching for what addons actually have the content we are trying to watch ends up being extremely frustrating. Although we do think some addons have their uses, Gears TV is much more stable and reliable than these fly-by-night operations.
As with anything in life you do get what you pay for, and we certainly think that the $15 a month for Gears TV is well worth saving yourself the headaches that can come from free addons.
Gears TV is also super simple to set-up and use. It only takes about ten minutes to sign up and install it. In moments you can be streaming pretty much any live TV you can think of it straight to your Fire Stick.
Gears TV is very well organized, and it’s super easy to find whatever you are looking for, unlike some free programs that have confusing layouts. We also recommend Mayfair Pro as an optional app you can purchase for a few bucks a month that will organize all the content on Gears TV in a way that makes it look like a normal cable provider. It’s not 100% necessary, but it makes using Gears TV even more convenient.
Once you have installed Gears TV on your Firestick or Fire TV, you will be able to take it with you anywhere. All you need is a TV with a USB and internet connection, and you will be able to stream everything anytime, anywhere.
Take it with you to a friends house to watch the big game, pack it in your suitcase for when you are traveling, you name it! Gears TV means that you will never be without high-quality IPTV no matter where you are.
Once you are signed up for an account, you can even download it straight to your phone!
Price: $15/month per device.
The Players Klub
We think The Players Klub is the best cheap IPTV For Fire Stick and Fire TV, and if you are looking for something like Area 51, this should be right up your alley.
Generally, you get what you pay for. Spending a little extra usually means a better product. However, we have to say that The Players Klub offers just about the best bang for the buck in this business. It even outperforms many of the pricier Amazon Firestick live TV services.
Players Klub is a no-frills operation. They only offer a single one-month one-device plan. However, it’s a great plan. It’s only eight bucks a month, or $96 per year on a monthly subscription. There’s no contract, so you can cancel any time, which is always a good thing.
But how does TPK IPTV perform as a Fire TV live app? You get all the usual movie channels, sports, and the standard US, UK and CA cable and broadcast channels you expect in a solid IPTV.
What’s more, you can also access their video on demand section with hundreds of movies and popular TV shows. Many more expensive services do not include this, which puts TPK at the head of the pack.
We also found that The Players Klub performed admirably on our setup. Even running through a VPN, it didn’t seem to have many problems buffering, and most of the channels worked just fine. The resolution was beautiful and crisp. Honestly, it felt like we were using a more expensive service.
Overall, this HD IPTV service is how to stream live TV on Firestick if you need to stick to a budget!
Update May 2019 – Vader Streams has been shut down!
Vader Streams is practically a household name in IPTV Fire TV services. They run a highly reliable streaming service that has become one of the most popular ways to watch TV on Amazon Fire Stick out there. We have used this service extensively without any significant issues.
One of the things that set this service apart is that you can use five different devices at the same time! Most providers charge extra per line, but you get 5 for the price of 1 with Vader. The yearly cost is about $125, and you can get streaming live TV on every screen in your house. Hell, you can even hook your neighbor up with five devices to watch!
So what do you get with Vader? You will get a ton of live cable channels on Firestick, with the usual English TV coverage as well as international channels from Brazil to the Middle East, to Russia, and everything between! They also have a Video on Demand section, and as of writing this, they have over 2500 movies and 300 TV series to watch.
What about live streaming sports? Vader Streams shines in this category with its signature “Match Center.” Match Center is a well-curated list of live sports events with multiple channels linked per game. They generally do a great job, including only high quality working links.
Vader also has a catch-up option on most major US channels for up to three days, allowing you to go back and watch any content you may have missed.
All-in-all, this is an excellent option for Amazon Fire Stick cable TV for people that want a trusted service that’s been around for a while.
Best Free IPTV Services for Firestick and Fire TV in 2020
We get tons of people asking us if you can watch tv on Amazon Fire Stick for free. Some people don’t necessarily watch enough live TV to justify signing up for a new service. Some people want to save money. Luckily, there are options for that as well. We have made a list of the APKs, and Kodi IPTV addons are the best of the free services out there.
Keep in mind that you get what you pay for, and these programs are less reliable than the subscription services we mentioned above. These are also more prone to being shut down by the authorities, so what works today may not work tomorrow. The streams also tend to be choppier and more likely to not function. This choppiness can be especially irritating if you are watching a game.
That said, you can still find some free IPTV that may be “good enough” for casual use. If you aren’t super picky and want the basics, you can do pretty well with the following options:
Mobdro allow you to watch free live TV on your Fire Stick, Fire TV, and Android devices. While many free IPTV apps have faded into obscurity due to dead channels and unreliable streams, Mobdro has remained a strong option for those looking for alternatives to high cable bills.
Mobdro offers most channels that you would find in a premium cable package in the United States and Britain and is adding more all the time.
The developers of Mobdro claim that none of the channels feeds originate from them. Instead, the app aggregates all feeds of particular channels throughout the internet and serves up the one that is most reliable for you depending on connection speed, hardware, etc.
Mobdro doesn’t really have much reliable, quality on-demand programming, but if all you are looking for is live cable, it is a very appealing free choice.
THIS SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE. IS IT?
Well, kind of. We did experience buffering issues on some channels, and most channels are served up in non-HD quality. This is fine for passive TV watching but can be kind of annoying when watching a sporting event or other live TV events.
You don’t want to have all your friends over to watch the big game, only to be embarrassed by a slow, laggy connection that ruins the action.
That’s why we always recommend getting a reliable paid IPTV service for Fire TV along with a good VPN. While they may cost you a little bit of money, the amount of frustration saved is worth its weight in gold.
cCloud is one of the oldest Kodi IPTV addons around, and tons of people still swear by it for live cable.
It works on any Android device, including Amazon Fire Stick or Fire TV. It’s famous for having tons of live streaming channels from around the world, which makes it an extremely attractive option for replacing your cable provider entirely.
What’s more, is the live sports section is huge. There are +150 streaming sports channels, from the USA, Europe, and the Middle East, and they usually work pretty well. Sometimes you may have to deal with a little bit of lag, but it may be worth it if it means you can cut the cable. We highly recommend cCloud TV as one of the best sports addons for Kodi out there.
cCloud focuses on live streaming cable, so there’s not much in the way of on-demand content here, but if live TV is what you’re after, this addon should work nicely!
cCloud TV is a free IPTV Kodi addon. Keep reading to see how you can install this app on your Amazon Fire Stick and Fire TV!
The Loop is an app where you can watch lots of live streaming IPTV channels for free, with a focus on sports and PPV channels. Read on for our full review and installation guide to one of the best Free streaming Kodi addons for 2019!
The Loop is an app for Amazon Firestick, Fire TV, and Android devices you can install through the Kodi app. It collects live cable channels from all over the world, mostly related to sports, football, MMA, and PPV.
The Loop is a great way to bypass expensive cable packages and PPV events if you are trying to tune into a live match. There’s not a lot of on-demand content, and it does not seem to have much HD content (only 480p and 720p), but those flaws can be overlooked in our opinion.
With The Loop Kodi addon you will find the following categories:
It’s a pretty comprehensive list as you can see, so with alittle searching, you should be able to find the match or fight you are looking for.
The Magic Dragon is a rebrand of the very popular The Dog’s Bollocks addon that can be found in the Supremacy repository. Everything that you loved about The Dog’s Bollocks is still here. This is a powerful all-in-one Kodi addon that provides access to streaming movies and television, IPTV, sports, and much more.
The Magic Dragon provides an excellent all-in-one source for streaming TV and movies, sports, and IPTV channels on Kodi.
It is easy to search for all your favorite content and provides a ton of HD options as well. We really liked the fact that you can use this Kodi addon as a source for most types of content. This eliminates the need to install multiple addons for each category (movies, sports, IPTV, etc…)
Maverick TV is an app where you can watch live streaming TV, with a good number of streams of sports, MMA, and PPV. Read on for our full review and installation guide for one of the best free Kodi addons!
Maverick TV is a free Kodi Addon for Amazon Fire Stick, Fire TV, and Android devices that collects tons of different live TV streams from all over. You can watch live TV channels, shows, and movies, which is very cool, but we think Maverick TV is also useful as a source of live sports, UFV, and PPV streaming.
There’s no dedicated PPV section, which is a little annoying, but if you know the channel or source where the event is broadcast, you can usually look through the other categories, usually the Maverick Live Sports category, until you find what you want. You can almost always find a good stream if you take the time.
What’s more, many of the streams are available in full HD, and you can also link up your Real Debrid and trakt.tv accounts for an even better watching experience.
Once you install the Maverick TV Kodi addon, you will have access to all these categories, and more:
So you can see, there’s a ton of options for both PPV/MMA/Sports as well as TV, movies and live channels. Try out Maverick TV yourself, and you might find that it becomes one of your go-to free Kodi addons for sports and more.

How To Install IPTV On Fire TV
It depends on which service you use, but generally, you will follow these steps to install these IPTV apps on your Fire Stick:
Remember: Always Use A Good VPN!
It’s critical to use a VPN (Virtual Private Network) whenever you watch cable tv Firestick with an IPTV service. Why? Without using one, you run the risk of getting in trouble with authorities if the service you’re using does not license its content. Even if it’s not your fault, you could still end up getting fine. We would never condone piracy, but you do need to protect yourself because there are risks when you use a third-party streaming service.
In our opinion, using a VPN with an IPTV service isn’t just a “nice thing to have,” it is mandatory if you want to protect your privacy and security. Luckily you can pick up one for only a few bucks a month.
